Nicolai Howalts

141 Boxers by Dutch photographer Nicolai Howalts is a series of double portraits of teenage boys (age 11-17) taken exactly before and after the boys first boxing match. The left portrait depicts the tense, hopeful energy while the right shows the face stripped of anticipation and a look that masks a battle won or lost. The full body images were recently published by Nicolai in the book “Boxer”.
