Bernhard Edmaier

Born in Munich, Bernhard Edmaier studied civil engineering and geography, where he fell in love with earth’s endless variety of colors and natural architecture. Soon thereafter he began his career as a professional photographer and founded Geophot Bilder der Erde, a photographic agency. Edmaier documents of some of earth’s last untouched and most treasured landscapes, however his pieces are not meant to act as a platform for environmental conservationists, “When we talk about beautiful landscapes or nature,we mostly refer to the landscapes transformed by man. I, on the other hand, gladly juxtapose those with the ones which have not yet been touched by a human hand and are practically unchanged, still in their primordial form…Each viewer of my images should decide for themselves whether the remnants of intact natural landscapes are worth preserving.”Each image redraws earth for the viewer in an orchestral and haunting way.
